On reassigning blame when watching the past [ FFVII, Aeris, Sephiroth, Gast]
Title: On reassigning blame when watching the past.
Fandom: FFVII (Pre and post game)
Characters: Aeris, Sephiroth, Gast
Prompt: 32 : ghosts
Rating: PG13, for angst and needles.
A/N: Here are other men that she cannot blame, regardless of how she once felt.
Aeris is in the lifestream and it is beautiful and it is terrible. It is the voice of the thousand sisters she should have had, it is the voice of forever and always - what has been and what will be, and a little of what may never be. It is time.
Unable to stop herself, she watches the man that will, that has, kill(ed) her. His face in the past. The mako in the lab does not allow her to stay long. Invisible, she ghosts through long enough to see a toddler with dandelion hair, a spiked up silver mane. He laughs as he dashes around madly, his speed too enhanced even at this age.
Her father stands nearby, arms crossed, but she has forgiven him his absence long ago. She is proud that he catches the child as he falls – better to be a father to another, than to none at all.
When Sephiroth is slightly older she numbs the pain of needles entering his skin as best she can; she sobs, knowing that each sharp metal point that slides into him now adds up to the one that he will slide through her back in years to come.

I think you conveyed that nicely - the all encompassing nature of the lifestream, with Seph's past and the inevitable future both being represented and experienced at once.

I also think that the lifestream would be like having one foot in the Tardis and another in Lost, for the amount of mindfuck it produces in fannon. Not that I mind - I'm shamelessly addicted to Cloud goes back in time fics XD
...er not saying that all CloTi fans are crazy.

Please tell me you've read Eir's Tomorrow. XD
