Breaking over the syringe scars.
May. 28th, 2010 07:02 pmTitle: Breaking over the syringe scars.
Fandom: FFVII CC
Characters: Zack, Cloud
Prompt: #64 - Betrayal
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Zack, on claiming what should have been his.
Cloud has never been more than a child. A child empty of what he once was, the venom in his blood leeching all his own thoughts away. So, surely, this is but a shell.
Zack knows this will never be right, but he’s nowhere near who he used to be – the labs have clawed hope and righteousness from him; four years with no contact but that of metal under his skin.
Zack will not stand for abandonment by all who stood by him, and left – he could hear them leaving. (It sounded like the wet peeling back of his skin, layer by layer as the whitecoat smiled.)
Zack grasps the child’s head, lays it on his chest. The child thinks this comfort; Zack knows this is the furthest thing from it. His grip tightens – a dying body’s strength. The child does not struggle until Zack eases his way into the emptying body – the labs knew not the extent of the monster they created.
Cloud Strife dies in a body not his own, while a blonde figure howls pathetic pittance at the sky – precaution in case he is watched by any dying troopers. Zack will not let this be his ending.
