“Sky!” Ffamran exclaims, his eyes dark and sparkling. Cid is carrying him through the study when Ffamran spots the ceiling; painted with exact constellations and planetary positions. Cid stops, unsure, as Ffamran reaches over his shoulder with tiny hands to try and grasp the swirl of stars.
“Sky!” Ffamran repeats, with a hint of frustration, and Cid begins to explain the nebula before a voice in his brain prompts him to line up one finger to the ceiling and tell Ffamran the stories behind them.
The voice was his late wife’s.
It fades as he and their boy grow older.
